Rules regarding PASS or FAIL:
- If a demo crashes, faults, or shows behavior that suggests a problem, that is a FAIL.
- Known faulty behavior in the demo itself doesn't count as failure. Future development may offer off-by-default hacks or workarounds in the emulator for the problem.
- Known faulty behavior that occurs on real hardware doesn't count as failure, because it means DOSBox is emulating real hardware accurately and the demo is at fault.
- Issues that are DOSBox-SVN's fault, that the DOSBox SVN developers have expressed an unwillingness to fix or accept patches to fix, do not count as failure.

Common problems with DOSBox SVN so far:
- Lack of support for "goldplay" Sound Blaster playback. Audio is rendered "muffled" in DOSBox SVN. So far this is not relevant to DOS games, and may be re-marked as a failure that doesn't count against SVN.
- LPT DAC output doesn't work. However code explicitly written for the Disney Sound Source works.
- PC speaker emulation on/off and frequency changes are limited to 1ms precision. This affects some demos as well as old Apogee titles like Duke Nukum.
- Some demos rely on INT 16h AH=1 undefined behavior regarding ZF flag (standard only describes CF flag), which so far has been confirmed on at least one 386 system and may occur in other old systems.

Common problems to both DOSBox-X and DOSBox-SVN:
- Having UMB or EMS enabled can cause crashiness in some demos.
- Some demos require XMS to be enabled, will call to a NULL pointer otherwise.
- Some demos will crash or malfunction if loaded too low (below 64KB) in memory. Try loadfix or the minimum mcb segment option.

Problems that do NOT count as failures against DOSBox SVN, because they are bugs in the demo itself:
- Audio halting or interrupt problems with GUS or SB related to a failure to unmask the IRQ (democoder laziness, NOT SVN's fault).
- Hangs related to undefined or reserved bits in VGA emulation that the demo really ought to ignore.

Demo bugs:
- When the demo probes the Sound Blaster IRQ, it uses a software timeout
(I/O delay) that can fail to detect the IRQ if it takes longer than
500ns for it's IRQ handler to receive the signal.
- If the demo cannot detect the Sound Blaster IRQ, then it will take
IRQ 0 (the timer interrupt) as the Sound Blaster IRQ, which will then
result in incorrect music playback.

DOSBox-X NOTES:
Notes:
- Sound Blaster Pro support will hang, playing garbage data, if the demo also detected a Gravis Ultrasound,
however at least it will also default to the Gravis Ultrasound if you hit enter.
- Sound Blaster Pro support starts with a 1-byte DMA buffer, which falsely triggers DOSBox-X's goldplay mode,
and let that play until the demo is ready to run, but the demo will change the DMA base count to the final
length later when running.
- If you select "Sound Blaster 16" you must specify the 16-bit DMA channel (usually 5)
or the demo will not play any music.
Real hardware:
- Toshiba 1997 Pentium with SBPro compatible OPL3-SAx: Sound Blaster Pro support works perfectly fine, does not hang as described above. However the 3D maze runs too fast, and exhibits Mode X tearlines.
- COMP-Old486y91, GUS, PAS: GUS support works fine. SBPro selection detected the PAS and refused, properly.

Some content will show incorrectly anyway depending on SVGA card vs selection. HOWEVER: Real hardware testing also shows the same problems (test 1/1), which means the emulation may be accurate regardless.
